Letting Go

Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life. What is it you would let go of today?

Which one to let go?

Hurt?

Fear?

Pain?

Fear has never been a problem for me, so I do not have to let it go. It has been gone since I was 25.

What about you? Can you choose one?

Since Fear was not something I had to let go, I choose:

Pain.

  1. Interesting. I think that holding on to anything causes pain. Therefore – pain can’t go until you finally release whatever……. What would I let go? Definitely ‘hurt’.

    1. Thank you for weighing in…hurt is so hard to let go; I can forgive but not forget.
Interesting thought that to release pain that other things have to be released.

      1. I’ve come to realise that the pain is actually the pain of holding on. When things are grasped too tightly….. too deeply…. it hurts. (((hugs)))

  2. Maybe you can teach me how to be brave. Worry, worry, worry wart … that’s me. If I knew how, I’d turn of the fear switch for today and forever.

    1. Lori, I wish I could teach how to let go of fear or worrying. I ask myself, will this matter five years from now; five months? Five days? Usually it will long be forgotten but that is not how fear left my life. That was eons ago when I stared death down and said “No you cannot have this child.” After living through those five long years and now 52 years, what is left to fear. The other ups and downs of life pale in comparison.

      1. Nothing like the fear of losing a child that will chase it away (the fear). Losing a child is the worst kind of pain anyone can suffer. I only lost the ones I imagined. What a blessing to have your child saved. Thank you for sharing that.

  3. Ahhh, to open our hand and let go of fear, of pain, of hurt, of constriction, of frustration, of confusion…
In the past I have thought a lot about this letting go. In the past week my focus has been on what I want. It’s really amazing how much new energy is rushing in, so unexpectedly.
