Obamacare

Dr. Barbara Bellar, a Candidate for Illinois State Senate, summed up in one sentence the sheer folly of the entire Obamacare operation.

“So, let me get this straight.

We are going to be gifted with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don’t, which purportedly covers at least 10 million more people without adding a single new doctor but provides for 16000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says she doesn’t understand it, passed by a congress that didn’t read it but exempted themselves from it and signed by a president who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn’t pay his taxes so that we will be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect by the government which has already bankrupted social security and medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who’s obese and financed by a country that’s broke.

So what the blank could possibly go wrong?”

  1. Clearly not one of the millions of people with a pre-existing condition and/or without insurance. We do have the best health care system in the world if you are rich. We are good (top 10) if you are well off. We are ok (probably barely top 20 in the world) if you are lucky enough to remain in the “middle class. We are, say, 50th or lower if you are “lower middle class” or below. I am probably being generous since our life expectancy is 38th in the world just after (Drum roll, please) Cuba.

  2. It’s bad, alright–but here’s my question: think the other guy will really offer us more, or better? Since I’m on the poverty line, my health care is pathetic–to rub salt in the wound, I feel I’ve been shamed into not asking for more/better. I don’t think either party/candidate is going to remedy the outrage which is our Health Don’t-Care.

    1. I do not know, Caddo. All I know is that I am not better off than four years ago. I am actually in a worse position; too many problems to deal with all at one time. My health is o.k. which I count as a blessing every day. I am not anti-either party. I just don’t think the country can tolerate 4 more years of the current president. So I have to think we can’t get any worse or there is no America left.

Thank goodness we all have the freedom to choose for whom to vote…even though I don’t think our votes mean much. It is in the hands of those delegates and the electoral college.

If worse comes to worst, I am looking at moving from this country to another. Maybe it will not be better; I seem to remember a young America with so much promise.
