Linda's and first bicycleI am sure that we shared this bicycle…my brother and I. We learned to ride on gravel roads on Route 2.

I loved riding a bicycle; feeling the wind in my face; no cares; not knowing what life would hold but in those days anything was possible and the world was yet to be discovered.

I wonder how much money this bicycle cost and where Mother and Daddy got the money to buy us this bicycle? Did we ever thank them?

  1. This resonates with me .. as a country girl, having a bicycle to ride up and down our prairie roads was very freeing — my braids flying, the wind in my face, singing Olivia Newton John songs at the top of my lungs 🙂 I got my own bicycle as my 12th birthday present, and yes I was very thankful!

  2. We don’t realize the sacrifices our parents make for us until long after they have been made. It’s what kids do because they don’t know any better, and it’s all okay. A bike ride sounds like fun though. Is that adorable girl you? That’s a big bike. 🙂

  3. I had to practice riding in the grass before I was allowed on the oiled/rocky road. The road was much easier to navigate than grass. I’m sure your enjoyment of the bike was plenty of thanks to them.
